Privacy, Cookies & GDPR

1. Who we are

Daventry Coding Club is a community technology initiative organised and sponsored by MudiLabs, based in Daventry, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom. We act as the data controller for personal data collected through this website. For any privacy questions, contact us via the contact page.

2. What data we collect

  • Contact form submissions — name, email address and message content you choose to send us.
  • Event sign ups — name and email when you register interest in a meetup or talk.
  • Technical data — basic request information such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, used to keep the site secure and reliable.

3. How we use your data

We use your information to respond to enquiries, organise community events, send occasional updates you have asked for, and to keep the website secure. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising profiling.

4. Legal basis (UK GDPR)

  • Consent — when you submit a form or opt into updates.
  • Legitimate interests — running and securing the community website.
  • Legal obligation — where we must retain limited records by law.

5. Cookies

This website uses a minimal set of cookies and similar storage:

  • Strictly necessary — required for the site to function (for example, secure session handling). These do not require consent.
  • Analytics (optional) — if enabled, used in aggregate only to understand which pages are useful. No cross site advertising trackers are used.

You can control cookies through your browser settings at any time. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect site functionality.

6. Data retention

We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law. Contact enquiries are typically retained for up to 24 months and then deleted.

7. Sharing & processors

We share data only with trusted service providers that help us operate the site (for example, hosting and email delivery), under appropriate data processing terms. We do not transfer your data outside the UK or EEA without appropriate safeguards.

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us via the contact page. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be published on this page with an updated date.
